We recommend between 1- 2 hours to walk around the gardens at a leisurely pace.
There are several garden ‘rooms’ or themes including our butterfly garden, sacred heart garden and water garden. Then we have the lawn areas surrounded by various flowers and plants and finally our wilder countryside walk, home to our wildflower country lane.
You may encounter local birdlife including Hawk’s, Quail, Cockatoo, Pheasant, Fantails and more.
Ascension Gardens is also home to Glenn Lewis, Psychic Medium who is also an artist and his gallery of paintings of the spiritual masters are open to visit.
Getting Here
Ascension Gardens is located at 181A Muriwai Valley Road.
We are approx. 12 minutes drive from the west coast beach of Muriwai and about 15 minutes drive from Kumeu. And 30 minutes from Westgate, home to large format shopping stores including Costco, K-Mart (opening soon), the Northwest Mall and outlet stores
You can combine your visit to Ascension Gardens with lunch at a nearby cafe or winery, a visit to the Good From Scratch cooking school, the Muriwai Gannet Colony or the Sunflower Fields and Butterfly Garden at Franklin Farm (open over summer).
Q & A
What are the garden's opening hours?
Ascension Gardens is only open to the public for group bookings or if we hold special event days that are open to the public. We are available for group bookings for garden clubs, retirement villages, fundraisers or private bookings between Labour Weekend and Easter each year.
How can I book a group tour?
Group tours can be booked by contacting us via email or phone. We recommend booking at least two weeks in advance to secure your preferred date.
Is there an entry fee for the gardens?
Yes, there is a small entry fee. It takes a lot of time and money to maintain the gardens and we are wanting to continue to expand them and add more garden art. For a group tour, please contact us for prices and availability.
Are there any dining options available on-site?
While we do not have a cafe on-site, for group bookings we can arrange catering to be bought to the site for morning or afternoon tea, or light lunches. Please enquire when making your group booking.
Can I host an event at Ascension Gardens?
Yes, Ascension Gardens is available for private events. Please contact us with details on what even you would like to hold and we can discuss availability and pricing.
Is the garden accessible for visitors with mobility issues?
We strive to make our gardens as accessible as possible for all visitors, however there is some areas of rough terrain, tree roots, garden edges and so on. Please contact us with your mobility questions so we can discuss any specific needs you may have.
